These are the rules for the Zula (PC) 3on3 Community Cup #1 Europe. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. Zula Competitions and Format

1.1. Player Eligibility

All players participating in Zula competitions must enter their Zula Nickname (Europe). The gameaccount is needed to invite players into a custom match and to check if the correct player is playing. In order to participate in tournaments by ESL, you must meet the following requirements:

If you do not not meet these requirements, you will be deemed ineligible.

1.2. Team and Player Names

ESL reserves the right to edit Nicknames and/or URL aliases. Team or player names that are too similar to that of another team or player are subject to be changed by ESL. For more information on team and player names, please refer to the ESL Global Rule set section 3.1.2. “Nicknames, Team Names and URL Aliases.” If a team name has been wrongly seized, please file a support ticket with proof of ownership of the name.

Only registered team members are allowed to play for a team. Playing in any matches with a ringer is prohibited. (See “Ringing/Faking” in the ESL Global Rules) Players and teams must compete under their officially registered team names and nicknames during all official matches.

1.3. Roster

Team rosters must consist of at least the minimum amount of players required to participate in a cup. Teams are only allowed to play with players on their roster with a registered gameaccount. All roster changes must be made prior to the start of a cup. Playing with different players and/or illegal ringers will result in punishment.

1.4. Game Version

All players must install the newest version of the game in order to participate in ESL tournaments. Updates must be installed before the tournament starts, so delays will be at a minimum.

1.5. Technical Issues

Teams are responsible for their own technical issues (hardware/internet). Matches will not be rescheduled because of technical issues and matches will be played nevertheless. If the maximum pause time is exceeded, the game goes on, even if the issue is not solved yet.

1.6. Disqualification

To keep tournaments as efficient as possible, ESL reserves the right to disqualify teams. This will only be done in cases where a team purposefully stalls or attempts to block another team. In some scenarios both teams may be affected. Any team found to be using a known exploit will forfeit their game upon the first occurrence of the exploit. If the team is found to use another known exploit for a second time and it is determined to have been done on purpose they will be removed from the event and barred from any future events. Betting during any ESL event (by a player, team, or on behalf of anyone associated with the team) is off limits. Those partaking will be disqualified from the event in question and will receive a minimum of 6 months ban.

2. Zula Cup Rules

2.1. Zula Tournament Format

  • Tournament format: 3on3, Single elimination
  • Best of:
    • Up to Grand Finals: Best of One
    • Grand Finals: Best of Three

2.2. Map Pick/Veto/Side Pick

Unless otherwise specified, the map pick/veto rules are as follows:

  • The highest seeded team will be chosen to start the pick & ban phase
  • Contestants ban maps until number of maps needed.
  • Maps are played in the order they were picked.
  • Side Pick for Best of 1: Lower Seed
  • Side Pick for Best of 3: Higher Seed

2.2.1. Maps

2.3. Overtime

Playing overtime is mandatory. The overtime will be played MR3 (maximum of 6 played rounds). During the overtime, Teams will stay on the side which they played on. Teams will continue to play overtimes until a winner has been found.

2.4. Bans

ESL admins reserve the right to ban any weapons or equipment at any time without prior warning.

2.4.1. Ban List

  • All knives are banned except the default knife “Seal”.
  • All Extra slot and Bonus items are banned.
  • Weapons obtainable from boxes are banned.
  • Attachments on weapons are banned.
  • Only one sniper per team is allowed.
  • Cosmetic skins (that don't affect the stats of the weapon) are allowed.
  • Default weapons are allowed to play.

Allowed are only the weapons from the list underneath. A violation of this rule will result in disqualification.

2.5. Custom Match Settings

2.5.1. Match Settings

  • Game Type: Team Death Match (TDM)
  • Map: Selected via map veto
  • Player Count: 3v3
  • Match/Round Time: 10 minutes
  • Number of Kills: 50 Kills
  • Game Type: Normal
  • Limitations: Normal
  • Team Balance: None
  • Join Ongoing Matches: Yes

2.6. Regions

ESL currently hosts tournaments in European Regions. The majority of the team has to be from the region they're participating in.

2.7. MOSS

MOSS is mandatory for all players to use for the full duration of all matches without exception. If a player cannot use MOSS then they are not allowed to take part in a match.

For a missing or an incomplete MOSS file the player/team will be punished. Apart from this rule are all players which have evidence (screenshot of a bug)) that MOSS stopped/crashed due to an error. We only handle and warn a missing MOSS if they are reported within a protest. A violation of this rule will result in disqualification.

2.8. Cheating

Cheating is not allowed in any form (see 2.3. of our Global rule set 2.3. Cheating)

2.9. Glitching / Bug Abuse

The use of glitches or bugs is not allowed and will be punished by the ESL administration.

2.9.1. Climbing

Climbing with the help of team mates is in general allowed. Not allowed are positions where textures disappear in walls or grounds if a special movement (e.g. a jump) is required.

2.9.1.1. Boosting, sky walking, sharking

Boosting through walls, ceilings or the ground, invisible pixels or surfaces, sky walking, map swimming, floating and sharking are all forbidden.

2.10. Game Preparations

Please resolve any problems that might occur before a match starts. Connection or hardware problems during a match could lead to a disqualification by ESL admins. Agreements between the teams/players have to be posted as match comments. The match must be played with the right settings. Make sure all players are eligible to play. In team games, all players must be registered for their corresponding team.

2.11. Substitute Players

One substitute is allowed to play for your team during a cup, starting with the next series. Substitutes cannot begin playing in a series that has already begun. Keep in mind that the substitute must have been on the team roster before the cup started.

2.12. No show

If a participant is not ready to play 15 minutes after the scheduled match time, please submit a support ticket. This is the fastest way to get your match checked to move on to the next round.

2.13. Number of Players

Matches should be played 3vs3 with 6 players. If a side is missing a player the match can be played with less people but only if both teams agree.

2.14. Disconnects

In the case that a player(s) disconnects, the team is allowed to continue to play the match at a disadvantage.

2.15. Forfeit

Participants can choose to forfeit a match if they wish. Forfeiting will result in loss of the match and possible penalty points.

2.16. Protests

If a match was incorrectly reported by your opponents, your team has 10 minutes to protest (under [play.eslgaming.com/protest/add]) the report. Match protests must include media evidence clearly showing the results of the match/series.Teams are responsible for providing proof of match results in case of disputes.

2.17. Re-host

A rehost can only be played with prior admin approval. Please contact an admin via support ticket to receive approval. In a re-hosted game each participant must choose the same side as they picked at the start of the the original match. Disconnects and lag issues will only qualify for a re-host if the issue occurs the within the first 60 seconds of the game.

2.18. Observers

Observers are allowed only if both teams agree. Exceptions to this rule are, ESL admins and people that are given permission by an admin (e.g. shoutcasters or streamer). Under no conditions are teams allowed to play with referees other than ESL referees.

3. Results

Both participants are responsible to enter the correct result. Results must be submitted after all games have been played. If anything is unclear, participants should have screenshots and the required replay files available to verify the result and file a protest.

4. Communication & Support

Please use matchchat, located on the bottom right hand side of your screen or submit a support ticket for any assistance during the cup.

4.1. Admins

All participants must adhere to the decisions and rules of the tournament organizers, admins, and referees. All decisions are final, except in cases where the option to appeal is clearly stated. Conversations, either verbal or written, between organizers, admins, or referees, and participants are confidential. Publicly posting or sharing these conversations with outside parties is strictly forbidden, unless permission is obtained.

5. Match Media

All match media (screenshots, demos, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, you should upload the match media from a match to the match info page as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad match media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in their work because of bad match media names then it can be punished.

6. Casting and Streaming

Casting an ESL match is only permitted with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a Support ticket.

6.1. Personal Streaming

Personal Streaming is always allowed if ESL TV is not casting the same match. If ESL TV is casting a match, personal streaming is not allowed without an admin agreement. Personal Streaming of a match shown by ESL TV, without permission from an ESL admin, can lead to a disqualification of the team or ban of the participant streaming content during the tournament.

7. Penalty points

In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.

Only a team, which participated in a match, can complain about their opponent breaking the rules.
