These are the rules for the War Rock Open Ladder 2on2 CQC Europe. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. Ladder Rules

1.1. Challenging

In a Ladder any participant may challenge any other. The challenge may be refused by the challenged if they choose. In ladders with more than 20 participants compulsory challenges are activated. If a participant is within 20 places above the challenging participants the refusal will be punished with one penalty point. If both participants are in the top 10 then the refusal will be punished with 2 penalty points.

A challenging participant from the newcomer pool (unranked) is considered as being at the bottom of the ladder, therefore the 20 participants ranked last in the ladder would be punished for rejecting a challenge.

Participants that have more than 5 outstanding challenges in a ladder, no matter if the matches are confirmed or not, may not take on any further challenges. This is scripted into the ESL system and cannot be changed.

1.2. No show

Ladder: If your opponent does not show after 20 minutes, you must enter the result as your opponent did not appear in time. Do not enter a default win for yourself.

1.3. Several squads (sub-teams) per team in one ladder

During ladder play, no two squads from the same team are allowed to play each other.

1.4. Agreements

Certain agreements between participants are allowed to slightly differ from the ESL rules. Agreements that differ greatly from ESL rules are however not allowed. Please note that the ESL rules were made to ensure a fair match for all participants. You are not allowed to file a protest after the match if you think that the agreements made before the match in the end resulted in a disadvantage for your or your team.

Rules that can be changed with agreements are explicitly stated. Rules that do not explicitly state they can be changed by agreement, cannot have agreements made.

All arrangements between participants, made in addition to the ESL rules have to be written down in the match comments. The other participant has to confirm the arrangements also in the comments. To avoid abuse of the edit function, a third comment must be written.

Please also keep screenshots and/or logfiles of your arrangements. If you do not fulfil these requirements, any protests or supports concerning arrangements will be rejected.

The following rules may never be changed by arrangement:

  • Entering results for matches that have not been played
  • Allowing players to play that are barred because of penalty points, or are barred in the league due to a ban
  • Allowing players to play that in leagues with premium requirement that are barred for not having Premium
  • Allowing players to play without Wire Anti Cheat or MOSS
  • Allowing players to play with a non-registered or wrong gameaccount

Following arrangements need the agreement of both participants:

  • Change of map, after the map has been entered
  • Use of unallowed equipment (it has to be written down clearly, what is allowed)

Note: arrangements as such can not be a condition in order to play a match.

1.5. Creating new teams

Creating a new team account that falsifies the ladder or that is created in order to get rid of penalty points or to gain any other kind of advantage is illegal. New team will be deleted and in case of recurrence the admin staff will apply further sanctions against the original team and the players.

Creating a team to get ladder's points reseted to 1000 is considered as an undue advantage.

1.6. Ladder Idling

Any teams / players that sign up to the ladders just to be top of the ladder, and do not participate in competing in the ladder, can and probably will be removed from the ladder without warning. Repeat offenders/teams will be penalised.

2. Matchmedia

All match media (screenshots, demos, etc) are to be kept for at least 14 days and must be presented to a player, or an admin at request. In general, you should upload the match media from a match to the match page as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is of course forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad match media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in their work because of bad match media names then it can be punished for.

2.1. Screenshots

A screenshot of the on-screen results must be made of every game that is played. The screenshots must be uploaded onto the page with the match details as soon as possible after the game has ended. One screenshot showing each result (e.g. per half or map) is needed and can be uploaded by either the winners or the losers.

Non-existent screenshots lead to the assumption of a so-called “fake match”, a match that never took place. The screenshots must be uploaded within 24 hours after the match.

2.2. MOSS files

The matchmedia created by MOSS (ZIP file) must be uploaded within 24 hours after the match. In cup matches they must be uploaded immediately.

All users are asked to upload their MOSS files with correct names ( there is not a particular syntax but Admins must be able to recognize them from the media name ). Protest or Support tickets due to a violation of this rule are not allowed. An admin can give penalty points in favour of a wrong sign.

3. Anti-Cheat

3.1. ESL Anti-Cheat (Wire)

ESL Anticheat is mandatory for all players to use for the full duration of all matches without exception. If a player cannot use ESL Anticheat then they are not allowed to take part in a match. If the website is down, making ESL Anticheat unusable, then the match must be postponed.

3.2. MOSS (MOnitor System Status)

MOSS is mandatory for all players to use for the full duration of all matches without exception. If a player cannot use MOSS then they are not allowed to take part in a match.

3.2.1. MOSS Settings

Each player is responsible of using the correct settings. Playing with wrong settings may lead the user to 1 Penalty Point added to his account, the responsible admin will decide whether to rate or delete the match. It's up to the players to check their opponents' archives and open a support if something weird is present in screens.

MOSS must be configured as follows:

  • Paremeters: War Rock
  • Capture frequency: 120

3.2.2. MOSS version

The most recent version of MOSS has to be used for monitoring.

3.2.3. Missing MOSS files

If a player does not upload their file within 24 hours, they will be penalised with 3 Penalty Points and the team with 2 Penalty Points (a team can get a maximum of 4 penalties per match for missing MOSS files).

If the missing file is uploaded within 2 days and a support is opened, the penalties will be reduced to 1.

3.2.4. Faking MOSS files

An archive created by MOSS can't be faked without consequences and without track. A faked MOSS archive (removed/modified screens, removed/modified log etc) will lead the user to 6 Penalty Points added to his account and 6 Penalty Points added to his team in case of team match.

3.2.5. Checking MOSS files

It's possible for all users to check opponents' archived . The file checker is built in MOSS itself so everyone will be able to check if the archive has been modified or manipulated. The Admin team will check if all MOSS files have been uploaded in a match. It's up to players to check their opponents' archives and open a support if something weird is present in screens.

4. Settings

4.1. Player Settings

The following character settings must be followed:

4.1.1. Allowed Equipment

Only the following weapons and items may be equipped:

4.1.1.1. Weapons

  • Slot 1: Knuckle, M7, Combat Knife and Stiletto Sakura
  • Slot 2: Colt, Desert_EG (+ Gold), Magnum, Glock, MP5K (+ All versions except Scoped, Christmas, BioHazard, Aqua), Beretta_D and Beretta_M93R
  • Slot 3: MP5, P90 (+ Silver), UZI, K1 (+ All versions except Scoped, Silenced, Christmas, BioHazard), K2, M16A4 (+ Pink, ESL Versions), AK47 (+ All versions except Scoped, Silenced, Pink, BioHazard, Christmas, Chrome), TAR_21 (+ Gold), M4A1 (+ All versions except Scoped, Silenced, Christmas, BioHazard), G36C (+ RB), G36C_D (+ Gold), M24, AUG (+ All versions except Dragon, Veteran, Christmas), SSG, STINGER, PANZERFAUST, RPG_7 (+ Gold, ESL Versions), AI_AW (+ Pink)
  • Slot 4: Standard items + Pipe Wrench
  • Slot 5-7: These slots are forbidden unless both players agree to use them.
  • Slot 8: An allowed item can be equipped in this slots as long as the corresponding slot is unequipped.

4.1.1.2. Skins/Characters

Only Default skins are allowed (no classic).

4.1.1.3. PX Items

Fast Reload, Extra Clips 1 and 2, SP 5% and 10%, All Crosshairs

4.1.2. Forbidden items

Only the weapons and items listed under each league and tournament are allowed and may be equipped, with the exception of agreements between you and your opponent. If any items that are not listed are equipped it may lead to losing a round or the whole match.

All agreements regarding additional equipment or slots in normal ladders must be posted in the match comments or match settings. A shared agreement is necessary to guarantee the same advantages/disadvantages for all contestants. Also all failures in-game to comply with the rules, must be reported in a protest and proven with screenshots or a video.

4.1.2.1. Penalty Points

  • 1st time: 2 Penalty Points for both the player and the team plus lose of 3 rounds.
  • 2nd time: 3 Penalty Points for both the player and the team plus lose 7-0 on one side of the map.
  • 3rd time: 4 Penalty Points for both the player and the team plus loss 14-0 on one map if the opposing team won the other map. If they didn't, the whole match will be deleted.

4.2. Room settings

The specific room settings can be found on the main page of each cup, ladder and league.

4.2.1. Wrong Room settings

Each player/team must check the room settings before the match starts. If you notice that something is wrong: ask the room master to change it. If they refuse to change it you must open a protest. Protests after the match has finished will be automatically declined.

5. Match Rules

5.1. Gameaccount

The gameaccount, that has to be inserted into player's profile, is the nickname showed in game. In order to allow each player taking part to available competitions, a War Rock Game Account is needed. The gameaccount can be entered from the side widget on a ladder or tournament page.

It is up to each player to ensure that the Game Account is up to date. Playing on a wrong Game Account may be penalised as "Ringer/Faker".

5.2. Player drops

If a player drops before the first kill has been made in the first round, the match will be restarted. If a player drops after the first kill has been made, the round will be granted to the opponent. The disconnecting team has to write "disconnect" into the in-game chat and take a screenshot. The room will be paused at the end of the current round by leaving the room.

The waiting time for a dropped player is 10 minutes. If the player or a substitute rejoins the server and both teams are ready, the game can be resumed.

If the player, or a substitute player does not connect within that time, the match will be handled the following ways:

  • 2on2 Ladder: If the player does not connect within the provided time, the match can not be continued, as it has to be played 2on2 only. A protest must be opened.
  • 3on3 Ladder: If the player, or a substitute player does not connect within the provided time, the match can not be continued, as it has to be played 3on3 only. A protest must be opened.
  • 4on4 Ladder: If the player, or a substitute player does not connect within the provided time then the match is continued 3on4, or 3on3 if the opposing team agrees.

5.3. Substitute player

Players may be changed during a match. However, this change may not take more than five minutes time and may only be performed at side or map change, not halfway through a side (with the exception of a player drop). Should the change take longer, the match has to be continued without the new player and the missing player enters the match as soon as possible. The new player has certainly to be a part of the team and may not be barred.

5.4. Lag

Pings between 20-120ms are normal on WarRock, especially in International matches. Any pings that are consistently higher than 120ms will lead to a replay of the match at the Admins discretion (except Intentional Lagging).

5.4.1. Intentional Lagging

Players notice when they lag badly and exploiting it to win a match will be considered an unfair behaviour. If one player has a very high ping and/or he has a really hard lag on War Rock, the match must be postponed. In case of a player using it to his advantage, he will be penalised with 4-8 Penalty Points depending on the frequency and relevance of the lagging.

5.5. Illegal Actions

Any actions that result in an unfair advantage are illegal. This includes bug using of any kind and the following actions.

If you do have questions about legal/illegal positions, please write a support ticket (subject: Map bugs).

5.5.1. Abortion of a match

If your opponent should deliberately leave during a match, you must make a protest. You must not enter a result yourself. This may be penalized as entering a fake result. Should the game have advanced to a point at which an evaluation of the result is possible, a win may be granted to the remaining team. The decision whether a match can be evaluated or not is in each case decided by the responsible Admin.

5.5.2. Fakers/Ringers

A ringer is a player, who is playing a match for another player. In special cases there may be barrages up to four weeks. Fakes are matches which haven't been played correctly (e.g. a match has been lost on purpose to gain the opponent more points). Such actions are illegal and will lead to penalties.

5.5.3. Cheating

The use of any cheat is illegal (please see rule 2.3. Cheating).

5.5.4. Macro

Note, that use of any scripts or in-game macros is strictly forbidden (and detectable by ESL Anticheat/MOSS). If caught using a macro, it will lead to 6 penalty points for the player and 6 penalty points for the team in team matches.

5.5.5. Emotes

If a user is caught using emotes (F5-F12), it will be punished with 2 penalty points and one (1) round loss for the player, and the team in team matches.

5.5.6. Software Overclock

Any attempt to change your game speed can be penalised, not having the normal frequency can be seen as an attempt to bypass MOSS. Any users that are found changing their processor speed with the intention to affect the internal timing of the game will be punished with 6 penalty points or an additional barrage if used frequently.

5.5.7. Bug using

Any player who is found using any relevant bug (known or not), will be penalised for bug using at the Admin's discretion (the responsible Admin can decide in every instance whether the bug is relevant or not).

This distinction between relevant and non-relevant bugs is made because WarRock is full of small glitches (e.g. some nades can be invisible and with no sound without reason). The decisive factor therefore is the player's will to exploit a bug and to gain an advantage towards the opposit player.

The 15:9, 16:9 and 16:10 video display modes added some more textures bugs unexisting in other screen resolutions, therefore we recommend using the 4:3 modes.

A clear video of bug using is often necessary in this case to demonstrate the opponent team/player exploited a WarRock bug on purpose, this includes texture bugs.

Every player who is caught exploiting a bug during an ESL match will recieve from 4 to 12 Penalty Points depending on the frequency and relevance of the exploited bug.

5.5.8. Quick Spawn

If a player spawns before the timer hits 2:37, he must stand still and not move at all. If caught moving, the player will receive 2 penalty points and 1 round lost. In team matches, the penalty will also be applied to the team.

5.5.9. Forbidden modifications and programs

Each game or controls configuration, graphic or display modification that can’t be done through the ingame options menu is not allowed. All changes of the game’s graphics and/or textures with graphic card drivers/other tools to change the graphic configuration or such programs are strictly forbidden and lead to 6 penalty points or a cheating barrage depending on the severity. Programs allowing strong advantages (e.g. software overclocking, boosting) are also strictly forbidden and lead to 6 penalty points or a cheating barrage depending on the severity. The responsible admin decides, if the match is going to be rated or not.

To bust such cheats/hacks we will e.g. use information out of MOSS.

6. Penalty Point Catalogue

In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.

Matches get only deleted if the team/player violating the rules won the match. In cup and league matches default wins are given instead of a match deletion and penalty points.
