These are the rules for the OC5 Sprint Vector World Finals Qualifier North America. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. 1. Sprint Vector VR-League
1.1. Sprint Vector VR League FFA Qualifier Rules
1.1.1. Tournament Structure
In every FFA qualifier round, players will be divided into groups of min. 4 and max. 8 players. The top 4 of each group will qualify for the next round. In some special cases, it's possible to have fewer than 6 players in the group. However, this special case can only be used in the later rounds, as there may not be enough players qualifying to advance from a previous round. Basically we dont have option to only advance 3 out of 4. So all 4 would advance when we have 9 checked in.
1.1.2. Settings for the Tournament
All players are liable to follow the giving settings. Different agreements are not allowed.

1.1.3. General Rules
The communication during the cup is being done on the match chat, which every player in a group is able to join. You can find the match chat on the right side of the cup page: [SCREENSHOT] Please note that you need to join a new match chat if you qualified for the next round. The admins will be in those chats too. Please create a support ticket if you'd like to report a player, an incident or another critical situation.
22.214.171.124. No show
If a contestant is not submitting any requests in the forum to be invited to the private match until the time when the match needs to start, he will not be able to participate further in the competition.
If a contestant chooses to forfeit a match, he will forfeit any prizes and if possible will be replaced by a previously disqualified player from the previous round.
Protests must be made as soon as possible, or they may be ignored depending on the circumstances. The replay file should always show the names above the player avatars. Replays without displaying player names might not be counted as evidence.
126.96.36.199. Prize Money
If you managed to win prize money, you need to create a support ticket to redeem it. The support ticket needs to contain a payment information, as stated below

1.1.4. Match Rules
220.127.116.11.1. Player drops
If a player drops during the game for any reason, the match will continue without him.
18.104.22.168.2. Host drop / disconnection
If the player that dropped was the HOST and the match was stopped because of him, he will no longer be able to join the match and the match will be rehosted with a new host, under the following conditions:
- Players will restart the match on the same course.
- If any player does not respect this rule, he will be disqualified.
If the Host disconnected on purpose, the following penalties will be given:
- interdiction of hosting any other races in Sprint Vector
- 0:10:00 (10 seconds) penalty time
22.214.171.124.3. Match media
All match media (screenshots, video recordings, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, the host of the match should upload the match media from a match to the forum as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is forbidden and will result in severe penalties.
The host of the match is responsible for uploading the video recording and/or a screenshot of the match’s final placings to the forum as soon as possible after the match. The replay file should always show the names above the player avatars.
1.1.5. Emergent Gameplay
Because of the nature of Sprint Vector’s Fluid Locomotion movement system, advanced gameplay techniques have been discovered by its player community. These have been defined as emergent gameplay techniques and are allowed to be used without penalty. Emergent gameplay techniques consist of the following:
- Edge/Ledge Boosting
- Jump Boosting
Explanation of each emergent gameplay technique can be found below, as well as the penalty time system and catalogue.
126.96.36.199. Edge/Ledge Boosting
Edge/Ledge Boosting is defined as the player strategically delaying a jump maneuver until his avatar reaches the very edge of a platform, resulting in a brief speed boost when the jump is initiated. Players observed or reported to be Edge/Ledge Boosting will not receive a penalty.
188.8.131.52. Jump Boosting
Jump Boosting is defined as the player making strategic jumps while running on a flat surface to attain the same brief speed boost as an Edge/Ledge Boost. Players observed or reported to be jump boosting will not receive a penalty.
1.1.6. Incidents and Penalties
184.108.40.206. Race Incidents
As Sprint Vector is an online game prone to lag and other glitches, there sometimes will be incidents which we deem as Match Incidents. These are incidents where no player is at fault, and therefore a penalty is unnecessary and won't be applied to any players. Race Incidents include:
- One or more players being teleported or turned around on a gripstream
- One or more players experiencing a server crash
- One or more players experiencing noticeable latency
- One or more players experiencing a glitch from the game’s environment or movement system that results in them losing a position or other unfair disadvantages
Do mind that we will review every reported incident, and if we think it was a Race Incident, we will inform the players.
220.127.116.11. Restart of a Match
A match restart is possible under specific circumstances, for example, but not limited to, the race incidents outlined above or the observation of a player using one or more penalty-worthy actions.
18.104.22.168. Sprint Vector Specific Penalty Catalogue
This catalogue is used as a orientation for users, and doesn't necessarily apply. Penalties may vary depending on the circumstances.
- We reserve the right to disqualify a player from a match, if we think this is necessary.
- Time penalties may be used for special cases, when we think a disqualification, a barrage nor penalty points are the right solution.

22.214.171.124. Reporting Incidents
We support clean and fair racing, but we are not able to spectate every match, and therefore can't see every incident. Because of that we want you to report every incident you are involved in so that we can punish the culprits to ensure the continuation of clean, fair matches!
126.96.36.199.1. Requirements for a punishment
The following requirements need to be fulfilled. Otherwise, we will not be able to accept your complain and thus we will dismiss it.
- After the cup, you have 48 hours to send your report via Support Ticket. If you send the report after this period of time, we're not obligated nor are we able to handle the case.
- You must attach a video of the incident.
- The video needs to show the names of the players. Otherwise we can't find out who is at fault and therefore can't punish the culprit.
Casting a VR League match is only allowed with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a Support ticket.
188.8.131.52. Personal Streaming
Personal streaming of a VR League match is always allowed if ESL TV is not casting a match. If ESL TV is casting a match, personal streaming is not allowed without an admin agreement. Personal Streaming of a match shown by ESL TV, without permission from an ESL admin, can lead into a disqualification or ban of the streaming player in the tournament.
1.1.8. Penalty Points
184.108.40.206. Penalty Point Catalogue
In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.

2.1. Qualification Path
- 17th August World Finals Qualifier (8 Rounds Race)
- Europe: Qualifiers will be run on Oculus Home; Top 3 qualifier for OC5
- North America: 4 players will qualify through Oculus Home; 1 player will qualify through Steam
2.2. Format details
- 8 players; 8 races; total winner by points
OC5 will once again take place in San Jose, CA. Since Oculus Connect began, a small group of VR developers, creators, producers, and designers has grown into a movement that’s making the impossible, possible.
Join us for this industry defining event at the McEnery Convention Center on September 26 & 27. We’ll open with a keynote address, followed by the chance to get hands on with our products, dive into state-of-the-art experiences, and imagine the future of VR together.
