Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) on ESL Play!
We are happy to announce the first Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) tournament on ESL Play!
After receiving many inquiries about Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) on ESL we decided to create a few Community Cups to try out how much interest the ESL community has in Super Smash Bros. (Wii U) and if it makes sense to give the game his own section.

If you want even more Super Smash Bros. action you should check out the Nintendo tournament at Gamescom where they will crown the Gamescom Champion of Super Smash Bros. 2015! You can watch it live on the official Nintendo Germany TwitchTV Channel when it starts on 7th August 12:00 CEST.

There will be two tournaments and a grand final. Participants who reach the top four in the Community Cups #1 and #2 will qualify for the final.

Super Smash Bros. Community Cup #1 Europe, 26th July 15:00 CEST
Super Smash Bros. Community Cup #2 Europe, 16th August 15:00 CEST

I'd love to participate, but it seems to very limited in the countries that can participate? I can't sign up as a Belgian despite I'm sure the latency for the online cups would be just fine.

Thanks for the reply, that part is now solved. But now it's the game ID thing where it only has Super smash brawl in it, and not WiiU.

And selecting Brawl gives an error message.

Also fixed :)
So if I can't join the second tourney on august 16th there is no way I can qualify for the finals correct? Are there going to be more tourneys because I can't join the second one since I am on a vacation during that time :(.

You have to get top 4 in one of the 2 Tourneys to qualify for the final tourney. So you don't have to participate in both.

@Admin
The error with the country was only fixed for the first cup but not for the second. I can't sign up for the second, but I am able to sign up for the first.
The Hype is strong in this one
Can't join the second one. It's not giving me any region options; I listed my region as "Germany" when prompted by the signup thingy.
The suicide rule only mentions Bowser-cide.

What about Ganon-cide, Kirby-cide, DDD-cide and DK-cide?

All of these suicide moves, including Bowsercide, are typically counted as a win for the suicide player, not for player caught by the attack. Your rules for suicides drastically nerf a bunch of characters that use these moves, characters that nobody considers top-tier in the first place.

It just strikes me as a little unnecessary.

Other than that, this looks great. Hyped and looking forwards to it. Does ESL have any plans to put in place systems that could be used to manage games better? It would be VERY nice if ESL teamed up with Anther's ladder. HINT HINT. The two services would work hand in hand very nicely.
The error with the countrys is now fixed everywhere.

If I may... In all cases, these suicide moves have a clearly defined winner. You will never get a sudden death with Ganoncide, nor with DDD or Kirby. Bowser is the only one where any sort of ruling is necessary, as sometimes the game isn't sure who wins on that one. Letting the win screen decide as far as possible is a good thing.

Now, you want rules questions, why the heck is Halberd legal over Wuhu? O.o And why no Dream Land 64?
Do I need to do any extra steps for registration? I sign up to both tournaments and the option waiting for check in is on.

Are there any extra steps, because the rules do not clarify. Thanks for anyone who answer this in advance.

Fair points, but from my experience all suicide attacks are counted as wins, unless events have recently gone a different direction with that. Granted some inexperienced players might make errors in an online tournament, that's possibly for the best and understandable.

Dreamland 64 is probably not counted because this is an online tournament and relies on people's home setups. It can not be played with players who have not paid for the stage whereas DLC characters can be. Wuhu has some jank like the fountain and walled transformations, it doesn't add anything Halberd doesn't add already (a long stage favouring characters like Sonic). My assumption here is that they're taking their cues from EVO and Apex as for the most part the rules and stages are the same.

Cadet pls don't act like your opinion is the standard. The stagelist they chose is the current standard so there is no reason to be surpised(except for dreamland)

I'm assuming all the Non-European players that have been signed up will be disqualified as we begin, right?
