Quick Rules

Note that once all matches in a round have reported, the next round will be paired and started in 5 minutes.

Tournament Format

  • Tournament structure is Modified Swiss
  • All matches are Traditional Best-of-Three Standard
  • Players should select ‘Tournament Match’ Options when conducting Direct Challenge with their opponent
  • Players are eliminated after they receive their third match loss
  • Players with 5 match wins at the conclusion of Round 5 and Round 6 are automatically invited to Mythic Championship VII
  • Players with 4 match wins and 2 match losses at the conclusion of Round 6 will be extended invites to Mythic Championship VII until 16 players in total from this event have been invited to Mythic Championship VII. Ranking among all players with 4 match wins and 2 match losses will be determined by tiebreakers

Ties will be broken by the following:

  • Day 1 record, where more match wins is better and—if at 10 wins—fewer match losses is better
  • Buchholz Tiebreakers, as displayed on the Rankings page for ESL Play and;
  • Strongest Mythic Ranking at the end of the two seasons that qualified players for this Mythic Championship Qualifier Weekend
    • In the event two players are tied in this metric, the second strongest Mythic Ranking will be used, and so on

Game Specific Rules

  • Players must use the same deck that they submitted to [email protected]
  • Decklists for Day 2 will be published on the Magic: The Gathering website and a link to that page will be posted here once it’s ready
  • Wizards of the Coast will be running server checks to verify players are not changing their decks and all match results line up with what is reported, and players that edit their decks after the start of the tournament will be disqualified without prize
  • 30-minute clock for each person’s time with priority is built into Direct Challenge; once a player uses up all time on their clock, they lose the match automatically

  • Players may submit footage from a stream as proof of potential issues when protesting a match outcome or circumstance that arose during the match.
  • Protests will be evaluated and action given based on case-by-case evaluations.
  • Wizards of the Coast and ESL are not responsible for players losing matches as a result of their own Internet or hardware.
