These are the rules for the Go4Heroes Europe Cup #168. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. Cup Rules
1.1. No show
If your opponent is not present 15 minutes after the matchdate, you have to write that in the matchcomments and contact an admin in the cup chat. This is the fastest way to get your match checked to move on to the next round.
1.2. Adding new players
One new player is allowed to join your team during a cup and is allowed to play starting with the next match.
1.3. Protest Deadline
A protest needs to be made within 10 minutes after the game, otherwise we will close the match and rate it as it was played.
1.4. Leaving a cup
You cannot leave a cup without asking an admin to remove you or your team from it. Always open a support ticket to ask the admin staff to remove you or your team from a cup.
To keep tournaments as efficient as possible, ESL reserves the right to disqualify teams. This will only be done in cases where a team purposefully stalls or attempts to block another team. In some scenarios both teams may be affected.
Teams have 15 minutes from the designated start times of their rounds, or designated times which an admin has set, to field a full roster from their registered list. If said roster fails to appear they will forfeit game 1 of their set and the opposing team will be given the right to choose first pick and ban or second pick and ban; additionally if a delay penalty occurs during semi or grand finals the rights of first strike of map are given to the team with a full roster.
Any team found to be using a known exploit will forfeit their game upon the first occurrence of the exploit. If the team is found to use another known exploit for a second time and it is determined to have been done on purpose they will be removed from the event and barred from any future events.
Betting on or during any ESL event (by a player, team, or on behalf of anyone associate with the team) is off limits. Those partaking will be disqualified from the event in question and will receive a minimum of 6 months ban.
Both participants are responsible to enter the correct result. If anything is unclear, participants should have screenshots available to verify the result and file a protest.
3. Match Media
All match media (screenshots, demos, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, you should upload the match media from a match to the match page as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is of course forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad match media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in his work because of bad match media names, penalty points can be assigned.
A screenshot of the scoreboard at the end of the match must be taken and uploaded.
All teams must record and save the replays of all matches they have played in a cup (and retain for 14 days).
All players, who want to participate in the Heroes of the Storm competitions, have to enter their Heroes of the Storm EU Battletag. The gameaccount is needed to invite players into a custom match and to check if the correct player is playing.
4.2. Game version
All players have to install the newest version of the game in order to participate in the ESL tournaments. Updates have to be installed before the tournament starts, so delays will be at a minimum.

5.2. Picks, Bans and Maps
5.2.1. Automatic ESL Mapveto
In case the ESL mapveto system is activated for an event it has to be used and the following rules "Best of One/Three/Five" are invalid. Additionally the team which goes second in the mapveto starts with the hero picks. In a bo3/5 series the first pick for the hero switches between the team after every game.
188.8.131.52. Best of One
Unless stated otherwise for a Tournament or Ladder, the team on the left will decide who bans first for the Battleground Selection. Maps will be banned alternately until 7 maps are left (2 maps will be banned) and the team that banned the first map will choose the map that will be played. The team that goes second in Battleground Selection will have first pick&ban in Hero Selection.
184.108.40.206. Best of Three
Unless stated otherwise for a Tournament or Ladder, the team on the left will decide who bans first for the Battleground Selection. Maps will be banned alternately until 7 maps are left (2 maps will be banned). Now teams will start picking maps alternately from the remaining ones to decide the order in which they will be played. The team which went second with the map bans and map picks will get for game 1 & 3 first pick. The team which starts drafting switches after each map.
220.127.116.11. Best of Five
Unless stated otherwise for a Tournament or Ladder, the team on the left will decide who bans first for the Battleground Selection. Maps will be banned alternately until 7 maps are left (2 maps will be banned). Now teams will start picking maps alternately from the 5 remaining ones to decide the order in which they will be played. The team which went second with the map bans and map picks will get for game 1, 3 & 5 first pick. The team which starts drafting switches after each map.
5.2.2. Picking Process
The format of picks and bans is the following.

Unless stated otherwise in quick rules, all available Heroes can be used in a match.
5.4. Game preparations
Please resolve any problems that might occur before a match starts. Connection or Hardware Problems during a match could lead into a disqualification by ESL admins. Agreements between the teams/players have to be posted as match comments. Make sure the match is played with the right settings, e.g. Draft Mode and Map. Make sure all players are eligible to play. In team games, all players must be registered in their corresponding team. The usage of a team foreign player can lead into (a) warning. (b) disqualification. (c) 2-6 penalty points (d) re-match, depending on the case. An ESL admin will take further actions if there is a ringer suspicion.
Teams can agree to a re-match, if they think it's needed to play a fair and balanced match or to solve technical problems.
A re-match has to be played with the same picks and bans. In the case it's impossible for a player to join a started match, because of a bug, which makes it impossible to connect to a match after bans & picks, a re-match has to be made if the match is not older then 1 minute. A screenshot as proof of the bug has to be upload to the match.
5.5.2. Pause Rule
It is forbidden to use the pause without an obvious reason like a player disconnect.
The pause time shouldn't be longer than 10 minutes in total. In the case a longer pause being needed, the opponent or an ESL admin has to agree it, otherwise will the match continue. In the case a player disconnects or has technical issues, it is allowed to use the pause. In all other cases, both teams have to agree to a pause of the game in all chat. To unpause a game is only allowed if both teams agree to it in all chat or a pause lasted longer as 10 minutes and no further agreements were made. Abuse of the pause will lead to a disqualification. Screenshots of proof of the abuse have to be taken and uploaded into the match.
5.6. Illegal Actions
Any actions that result in an unfair advantage are illegal. This includes bug abuse of any kind.
5.7. Leaving the match
If a team leaves the match before it normally ends, then this team forfeits the match and can be punished according to the rules.
Spectators in the custom match are allowed only if both teams agree. An exception to this rule are the ESL tournament admins and people that are explicitly allowed by a tournament admin (e.g. shout casters or streamers) to spectate. It can't be refused to invite an official ESL caster (e.g. ESL TV), if an ESL tournament admin asks you for an invite. Teams should only allow spectators in a custom match they trust. It is not allowed to complain about spectators that were allowed in the game after a match was played.
Casting an ESL match is only allowed with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a support ticket.
Players are allowed to stream their own games. They are not allowed to stream their game if a caster is streaming their game.
6.2. Streaming Platforms
When streaming, we only allow players or casters to stream on Twitch.TV. Other forms of streaming platforms will not be tolerated, such as Hitbox or Dailymotion.
All streams no matter if it's a player's stream or a caster's stream, they need to have a delay setup with the delay being a minimum of 2 minutes. Streaming with less than 2 minutes delay may result in disqualification or the withdrawal of permissions to cast.
