These are the rules for the Forza Racing Championship Season 1 Elite Cup #1. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. #ForzaRC Rules

Eligibility Requirements
Participants must be registered with an Xbox Gold account. Winners found to misrepresent their eligibility may be withdrawn from the championship and forfeit any prizes.

AGE: The Forza Racing Championship Season 1 will be open to players age 16 and older in the Elite Series and age 14 and older in the Open Series. Minors must have permission from a parent / legal guardian, who must agree to these Official Rules on Participants behalf.

Winners may be required to sign an affidavit of eligibility, liability release, publicity release (unless prohibited by law), and tax documents (the “Documents”). If you do not complete the required Documents as instructed and/or return the required Documents within the time period listed on the Winner notification message, the prize will be awarded to a runner-up Winner.

Prizes may not be substituted for cash or any other merchandise or services. However, if for any reason an advertised prize is unavailable, Sponsors reserve the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value. Prizes are non-transferrable; if a winner is unable or unwilling to accept a prize it will be award it to a runner-up Winner. Prize winners are solely responsible for all applicable taxes related to accepting the prize. Prizes won by a minor may be awarded to a parent/legal guardian on minor’s behalf.

Car Prize: One (1) Grand Prize winner will receive a 2017 Ford Focus RS (the “Car”) with standard features. The Winner must take delivery of vehicle at a Sponsor-specified time and location or prize may be forfeited. Transportation to the location is the sole responsibility of the winner. The winner will be solely responsible for any applicable registration (including state sales or like tax), license, title and insurance fees, and any expenses not listed herein related to receipt, possession, acceptance, and use of the vehicle. Any difference between the stated MSRP and the actual value of the vehicle will not be awarded. The actual style, model, make color, design and features of the Car may vary from any depictions of it in the promotion materials. The Prize Provider will determine the style, model, make, color, design and features including but not limited to exterior and interior. Sponsors have neither made nor are in any manner responsible or liable for any warranty, representation or guarantee, expressed or implied, in fact or in law, relative to a prize including, but not limited to the prize quality or availability with the sole exception of the new vehicle warranty provided by Prize Provider on the Car itself.

1.1.1.1. Structure & Sessions Leaderboard

ELITE SERIES

  • The Elite Series Rivals structure will follow the Forza Motorsport 6 Rivals format
  • The Elite Series weekly Cup will be a 1v1, double elimination style of play
  • The Elite Series weekly Showdown will be no more than 16 racers, free-for-all style of play
  • There will be a qualifier before each race to determine the grid
  • Players will compete in a total of 3 races, scored using FIA style points

1.1.1.2. ForzaRC Season 1 Finals

  • Final in-game settings such as mode, finals tracks combination and format will be posted at least within one week of the Season 1 Finals event
  • The required car will be the Ford Focus RS which must be downloaded prior to the Season 1 Finals. Finalists will be provided with a code to download the car within one week of the Season 1 Finals event.

Structure and Settings for the Open Series Open Series

  • All participants must be within the age and geographic requirements, have an Xbox Live Gold account, and an ESL Play account.
  • Settings will be set and managed for all players entirely by Turn 10 for each week’s Open Series League play
  • Each week, the Leagues will open on Monday at 8 am PDT (5 pm CEST) and close Saturday at 11:59 pm PDT (8:59 am CEST).

The top 50% of registered ESL Open Series players in each League will qualify for a weekly prize. Only qualified players who have registered for ESL and have registered for the ForzaRC Open are eligible to receive a prize.

2. General Rules

2.1. Game Chat

If a game chat is available during the event, all attempts to contact an admin, including support or protests, must be made through it. We do not take responsibility if attempts made through other channels including support tickets or protests are not seen in time to be handled.

2.2. No show

If we are not able to contact the contestant 24 hours before the start of the next round/tournament/event, the player will be reported as “no show” and the next eligible player gets from the week’s Cup receives the chance for this spot. If a “no show” occurs in the Season 1 Finals, the 5th and 6th place winners from each week’s qualifiers may have a chance to compete in a last-chance semi-final race prior to the Season 1 Finals race to fill any no-shows.

2.3. Forfeit

If a contestant chooses to forfeit a cup match, they will be forfeit for the rest of the season and forfeit any prizes associated with that cup and eligibility for the season.

2.4. Protests

Protests must be made as soon as possible, or they may be ignored depending on the circumstances. The replay file needs to be provided.

2.5. Decisions

Decisions outside the Rulebook - Admins have the right to decide outside or even against the rulebook in special cases to guarantee fair play

2.6. Severability

If a provision of this rulebook is or becomes illegal, invalid or unenforceable in any jurisdiction, that shall not affect: a) the validity or enforceability in that jurisdiction of any other provision of this Agreement; or b) the validity or enforceability in other jurisdictions of that or any other provision of this Agreement.

2.7. Names, Symbols and Sponsors

The ESL reserves the right to forbid the use of unwanted or occupied names and symbols in their competitions. Any legally protected words or symbols are generally forbidden unless the owner gives the permission.

No advertisement or promotion of sponsors that are solely or widely known for pornographic, drug use or other adult/mature themes and products is allowed in connection to the ESL league.

User-generated content will be governed by the terms and conditions of Forza Motorsport 6.

2.8. Confidentiality

All communication between league participants and administration are confidential and must not be made public by the participant without prior permission by the ESL.

2.9. Rights of use

The ESL reserves the right to use material from all of their matches (i.e. pictures, videos, streams, replays, demos, screenshots, etc.). Players are only allowed to stream their own matches, if ESL allows it.

2.10. Cheating

The driver gets banned 24 months at the ESL in case of cheating. This also includes / but is not only limited to disqualification for the current championship.

2.11. Race Etiquette

Race etiquette rules will be enforced in all Elite Series matches. Intentional damage including, but not limited to, ringing, faking, pitting, obstruction of other vehicles, ramming, and cutting tracks may result in immediate forfeit of participation and prizing for a period of 12 months.

The violation of race etiquette will be at the sole determination of Turn 10 and ESL with a valid replay.

2.12. Betting

Not allowed to bet on matches in this tournament at all.

2.13. Unsportsmanlike Behaviour

Any offensive, disrespectful or unsportsmanlike behaviour (including but not limited to flaming, insults, physical violence) connected to the ESL or the event will be punished and can lead to disqualification.

2.14. Changes to the rulebook

ESL/Turtle Entertainment is allowed to change rules in the existing rulebook at any time.

2.15. Mandatory registration on ESL play Forza

Every player that takes part in the Forza Racing Championship Season 1 Grand Finals must be registered on the ESL Play homepage

3. On track rules

3.1. Ingame

3.1.1. Driver drops

  • If a driver drops during the race, there will be no type of re-start of the session.
  • If 4 or more driver drop out before the cars launched off the start line, the session will be restarted.

3.1.2. Re-host

In a re-hosted race each player has to choose the same settings as they picked at the start of the original race.

3.1.3. Observers

Observers are not allowed. Exception to this rules are ESL admins and people that are explicitly allowed to observe by an admin (e.g. shoutcasters or streamer). Under no conditions is it allowed to play with referees other those decided by an admin.

3.1.4. Illegal Actions

Any actions that result in an unfair advantage are illegal. Race etiquette rules will be enforced in all Elite Series matches. Intentional damage including, but not limited to, ringing, faking, pitting, obstruction of other vehicles, ramming, and cutting tracks may result in immediate forfeit of participation and prizing for a period of 12 months.

The violation of race etiquette will be at the sole determination of Turn 10 and ESL with a valid replay.

3.1.5. Track behaviour

As the ForzaRC is a serious racing championship, on track behaviour has to be in line with the sportsman-like behaviour and appropriate clean racing. Therefore we will punish following behaviour but not only limited to:

  • Purposely crashing and corner-cutting, vulgarity in game chat, attempting to cause disruptions to your own benefit in online lobbies, etc.
  • 2 wheels have to remain in between the white lines defining the track. Curbs are NOT part of the track, so 2 wheels have to be on the tarmac at every time. This does not apply to situations in which it happens occasionally but as soon as this is your racing line or you get a advantage with doing it, it can be penalized.
  • You are allowed to block a line in front of a corner once, plus getting back to your racing line. Zigzag style is not allowed

That behaviour can lead to disqualification or other penalties, depending on the situation.

3.1.6. Hosting order for the Elite Cups

  • Race 1: The player who is higher in the rivals leaderboard hosts the match
  • Race 2: The other player is hosting
  • Race 3: The player who is higher in the rivals leaderboard hosts the match

3.2. Championship

3.2.1. Qualification rounds

Elite Series

  • The Rivals leaderboard opens up August 8, 15, and 22nd at 8 a.m. PDT (5 pm CEST) and closes the Thursday of each week, August 11, 18, and 25th, respectively, at 11:59 PDT p.m. (8:59 am CEST).
  • Rivals scores only qualify during the following three play sessions each day, Monday through Thursday:
  • Players must sign up each week by Thursday 11:59 pm PDT to ensure they are counted in that week’s competition.
  • Players that qualify for the Cup must confirm their presence at least 10 minutes prior to the start of the Cup.
  • Leaderboard replays must be uploaded in-game. Scores are self-reported.
  • The Cup each Saturday will start at 11 am PDT (8 pm CEST). The Cup is 1v1, Double Elimination Cup, Best of 3 on August 13, 20, and 27th, respectively.
  • Saturday the top 16 winners from the Cup will move on to a semi-final race on the following Sunday, August 14, 21, and 28th, respectively.
  • The top four winners from each race will move on to the finals on September 4th, 2016.

At every qualification round, drivers have the chance to earn a spot for the weekly ForzaRC Showdown. Winners from each week’s race are no longer eligible to compete in the Elite Series for the proceeding weeks.

Winners will be posted on the ESL Forza page.

3.2.1.1. Track order

Week 2 (Best of 3):

  • Track 1: Catalunya GP
  • Track 2: Watkins Glen

Week 3 (Best of 3):

  • Track 1: Watkins Glen
  • Track 2: Nuerburgring GP
  • Track 3: Catalunya GP

3.2.2. ForzaRC Season 1 Grand Finals (online)

The Global Finals will take place on September 4th at 11am PDT (8pm CEST).

Elite Series Finals Event Format

  • Online event broadcast from ESL studios
  • Top 12 racers (4 from each week’s qualifiers)
  • 3 races on the following tracks
  • 1-lap qualification ahead of each race
  • FIA points system for each race
  • Top four players win prizes

3.2.3. Qualification (rule addition)

Drivers are allowed to try to qualify on every qualification round as long as they are not banned from the competition or qualified for the final already. Drivers are only allowed to qualify with one gamertag.

4. Game media

All game media (screenshots, replays, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. Faking or manipulating game media is of course forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Game media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad game media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in their work because of bad game media names then it can be punished for.

4.1. Replays

Every Driver who wants to participate in the final needs to let the game upload his fastest lap time in the rivals mode.

5. Casting

Casting an ESL match is only allowed with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a Support ticket.

5.1. Personal Streaming

Personal Streaming is always allowed if ESL TV is not casting that race. If ESL TV is casting a race, personal streaming is not allowed without an admin agreement. Personal Streaming of a race shown by ESL TV, without permission from an ESL admin, can lead into a disqualification of the streaming driver in the tournament.

6. General Conditions

6.1. Indemnity

By entering, Players agree to abide by these Official Rules; and to release and hold harmless Microsoft Corporation, One Microsoft Way, Redmond, WA, 98052 and ESL 1212 Chestnut St, 91506 Burbank, CA, USA (together “Sponsors”) and Ford Motor Company, One American Road, Dearborn, Michigan 48126 (“Prize Provider”) and their respective parents, subsidiaries, affiliates, employees and agents from any and all liability or any injury, loss or damage of any kind arising from or in connection with this Tournament or any prize won.

6.2. Cancellation

If cheating, a virus, bug, catastrophic event, or any other unforeseen or unexpected event that cannot be reasonably anticipated or controlled affects the fairness and / or integrity of this Tournament, Sponsors reserve the right to cancel, change or suspend this Tournament. This right is reserved whether the event is due to human or technical error.

6.3. Publicity

By accepting a prize, Player agrees that Sponsors may use their proper name and state of residence online and in print, or in any other media, in connection with this Tournament, without payment or compensation, except where prohibited by law.

7. Governing Law

This Tournament will be governed by the laws of Federal Republic of Germany and players consent to the exclusive jurisdiction and venue of the courts Federal Republic of Germany for any disputes arising out of this Tournament.
