These are the rules for the ESL One Genting 2018 South American Open Qualifier. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. 1. ESL One Genting 2018 South American Open Qualifier Rules
1.1. Game Version
The game version must be "Dota 2".
A lobby will be automatically created by the ESL Dota 2 Game Integration system. All team members will be invited for that lobby and will be able to join. The lobby information will also be available in the match page (click in your opponent team name in the tournament widget found on the right side of the page, or access the match page via "Path View" tab) in case the invite fails or a player rejects the invite by mistake. The system automatically kicks any players that joins the lobby and do not belong to the ESL team.
1.2.1. Lobby Settings
Lobby settings are automatically set by the system. If the system is not working and a lobby needs to be manually created, the lobby must have the following settings:General Lobby Settings:
- Game Name: Team A vs Team B (change it according to the team names)
- Game Mode: Captains Mode
- Lobby Password: Mandatory ¹
- Server Location: Brazil
- Lobby Visibility: Public
- Enable Cheats: OFF
- Selection Priority: Automatic (coin toss)
- Penalty-Radiant: No Penalty
- Penalty-Dire: No Penalty
- League: None
- Spectators: Enabled
- Dota TV Delay: 5 Minutes
- Pausing: Unlimited
- Series Type: No Series
- Fill empty slots with bots: OFF

2. Match Rules
2.1. Starting the Game
The game will start once the match time and date is reached. You can check your game schedule in the tournament widget on the right side of the page, or the full schedule in the Info page of the tournament.
The server is by default Brazil.
2.3. Failure to appear / No Show
Each team has 15 minutes to show up to a match. (Match date +15 minutes). Showing up after 15 minutes result in a default loss. The team that is waiting must open a protest ticket in order to request the default win. Please keep in mind, if a team or player did show up in time, but needs to leave the lobby to sort an issue, it does not count as a no show if he's not back after match date + 15 minutes. Abuse of this exception will lead into a default loss of the match. Open a protest ticket if you feel that the team is abusing this rule.
2.4. Game preparations
Please resolve any problems that might occur before a match starts. Connection or Hardware Problems during a match could lead into a disqualification by ESL admins.
- Agreements between the teams/players need to be posted as match comments.
- Make sure the match is played with the right lobby settings.
- Make sure all players are eligible to play. In team games, all players must be registered in their corresponding team. The usage of a team foreign player can lead into (a) warning. (b) disqualification. (c) 2-6 penalty points (d) rematch, depending on the case. An ESL admin will take further actions if there is a standin suspicion.
2.4.1. Game Account (Steam ID)
All players must have an updated Dota 2 Steam ID added to his ESL account. A wrong, missing or outdated Dota 2 Steam ID in the ESL Player Account will cause the player to not be able to join the ingame lobby.
2.4.2. Lobby Host
The lobby will be created by the ESL Dota 2 Game Integration system. All team members will be invited for that lobby and will be able to join. The lobby information will also be available in the match page (click in your opponent team name in the tournament widget found on the right side of the page, or access the match page via "Path View" tab) in case the invite fails or a player rejects the invite by mistake. If there are issues with the system, the lobby host can be any player that is part of one of the teams. Please follow the "Lobby Settings" and the rules stated on the "Game mode" tab above.
2.4.3. Player Change
You are not allowed to change a player after the start of a match. All players must be part of the ESL Team.
The use of standins on cups is allowed. All players must be registered on ESL and assigned to the team they are playing for (including standins). Not fulfilling this rule can lead into disqualification.
2.5.1. Number of players
Number of players must be 5 for each team. A team missing a player will get a default loss.
2.5.2. Player drops
There is a total waiting time of 10 minutes per game to wait for player drops per team.
2.5.3. Pause Rule
It is forbidden to pause a game for no reason. After you pause a game you must say in all chat the reason of the pause. In the same game, the total pause time can't be longer than 10 minutes (if a team pause the game for 3 minutes and later pause it again for 7, they can't pause anymore, unless the opponents agree with it).
- A pause shouldn't be longer than 5 minutes. In the case a longer pause being needed, the opponent or an ESL admin has to agree it, otherwise the match continues.
- To unpause a game is only allowed if both teams agree to it in all chat or a pause lasted longer as 5 minutes and no further agreements were made.
- Abuse of the pause will lead to a disqualification. Screenshots of proof and the demo of the game must be uploaded into the match.
If a player drop or is lagging duo to a DDOS attack, the Pause Rule and the Player Drops rule is applied. There are no exceptions for DDOS attacks. It's the players responsibility to protect himself against DDOS attacks.
If there is a technical problem that requires a rematch, please contact an admin via protest ticket.
2.5.6. Rematch Rules
- A match has to be played with the same picks (it can be created using the All Pick mode).
2.5.7. Abortion of a match
You can abort a match by typing "gg" (without the "") in all chat. The match will end and the team that typed "gg" will recieve a loss.
Results are automatically added by the ESL Dota 2 Game Integration system. In case the system is not working properly, both participants are responsible to enter the correct result. Results must be submitted after all games have been played. If anything is unclear, participants should have screenshots and the required replay files available to verify the result and file a protest.
We highly recommend the teams to take a screenshot of the match result after every game. In case there is a protest ticket or a dispute after the game, screenshots can and will be used to solve the problems.
2.5.10. Communication & Support
Please use match chat, located on the bottom right hand side of your screen or submit a support/protest ticket for any assistance during the cup.
2.5.11. Match Media
All match media (screenshots, demos, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, you should upload the match media from a match to the match info page as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad match media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in their work because of bad match media names then it can be punished.
2.6. Illegal Actions
Any actions that result in an unfair advantage are illegal. This includes bug abuse of any kind.
Spectators inside the Lobby are forbidden (such as coach's, managers or casters). Only official ESL Casters or Admins are allowed. In case there is a caster allowed in the match, an admin will reach out to both teams and notify them about it.
Casting an ESL match is only allowed with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a Support ticket.
2.7.2. Personal Streaming
Personal Streaming is allowed.
3. Penalty Point Catalogue
In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.

Matches get only deleted if the team/player violating the rules won the match.
