These are the rules for the Go4Artifact Europe Cup #2. We make every effort to ensure the rules are complete and up to date but this may not always be the case. You should also check the Info Page and News for additions, exceptions and modifications that may apply. The rules are a guideline and the decisions by admins may differ from them depending on the circumstances. If you have any questions about the rules, please write a support ticket.

1. Match Media

All match media (screenshots, demos, etc) must be kept for at least 14 days. In general, you should upload the match media from a match to the match page as soon as possible. Faking or manipulating match media is of course forbidden and will result in severe penalties. Match media should be named clearly based on what it is. It is not possible to file a protest or write a support ticket to complain about bad match media naming. However, if an admin is hindered in his work because of bad match media names, penalty points can be assigned. Missing any kind of required match media can lead to a warning and penalty points.

1.1. Screenshots

Every player has to take screenshots showing their wins! This ensures we will have proof of the winners in case of disputes.

  • Players are free to upload their screenshots into the match media but it's only required when result protests occur.

2. Match rules

2.1. Region restrictions

You can always see your regional restrictions on the tournament page. Depending on the tournament's region settings you may not be able to participate. Faking your country and/or nationality settings to get into the tournament will be punished with penalty points and a disqualification from the tournament.

2.2. Game modes

2.2.1. Tournament Format: Swiss

Player Cap: 256

Match Format: Constructed Best of One (1)

Tournament Format: Swiss

Number of rounds will be determined based on the number of participants. Minimum number required: 8. Number of rounds will be 4 for 9-16 players, 5 for 17-32, 6 for 33-64 etc. Elimination will occur after 3 losses no matter how many rounds will be played.

2.2.2. Lobby settings

The following lobby settings should be used:

Timer: Competitive Timer

Deck Rules: Standard Decks

Show decks: Off

2.3. Decks

Each participant can play their matches with any decks available to them.

3. Match results

In case of a tie the match is to be replayed using the same decks. In case of a second tie we will randomize the winner (unless it's the last round of the tournament) to ensure the tournament is not delayed unnecessarily long. Both players are obliged to confirm the correct result of the game at the end of the match and attach screenshots confirming the result in case of disputes.

3.1. Drops & Disconnects:

Every Player is responsible for their own internet connection. Disconnecting during a game will result in a game loss for the player who has the disconnect. Opponents have to upload a screenshot of their opponent disconnecting to the match/ protest ticket. Leaving a challenge once a match has been played will result in a loss for the player who left the challenge!

3.1.1. Bugs

Client bugs count as a disconnect for the player who has the bug.

3.2. No show

If your opponent is not present 15 minutes after the match time, a protest ticket must be opened informing the ESL admin team of the situation. This is the fastest way to get your match checked, as the admins can not check all matches of the tournament manually. If the match has been already started and both contestants are playing, contestants lose their right to submit a no-show ticket.

Not showing up to the match results in a default-loss and a disqualification from the tournament.

3.3. Technical issues

Every player is responsible of their own internet connection and hardware-software environment. Leaving the match on purpose is not allowed and leads to a round loss.

4. Communication and support

Please use the match chat, located on the bottom right hand side of ESL Play, contact the admins on Discord or submit a support ticket for any assistance during the cup.

4.1. Admins

All participants must adhere to the decisions and rules of the tournament organizers, admins, and referees. All decisions are final, except in cases where the option to appeal is clearly stated.

5. Spectators

Spectating matches is allowed.

5.1. Casting

Casting an ESL match is only allowed with an ESL admin agreement. To get an agreement please write a Support ticket.

5.2. Personal Streaming

Personal Streaming is always allowed if ESL TV is not casting a match. If ESL TV is casting a match, personal streaming is not allowed without an admin agreement. Personal Streaming of a match shown by ESL TV, without permission from an ESL admin, can lead into a disqualification of the team or ban of the streaming player in the tournament.

6. Penalty Point Catalogue

In general, a player and the team can receive up to 6 penalty points per match, unless a single violation has a higher punishment. A team is only punished once per violation, regardless of how many players. Where a player or team receives penalty points for multiple violations, the penalty points are added together.

1In cup and league matches default wins are given instead of a match deletion and penalty points.

Matches get only deleted if the team/player violating the rules won the match.
