Weekend Qualifier Round-Up
Elfittaja and Strelok manage consecutive qualifications.
A weekend full of Intel Extreme Masters qualifiers is over and it is time for a round-up to see who made it and who has to try again. During Saturday and Sunday the second round of qualifiers for League of Legends, Counter-Strike and StarCraft 2 were played. The latter was for the final two European spots to Global Challenge New York while the others played for the remaining spots for their final qualifiers next weekend.
League of Legends
On Saturday this seasons new addition to the game pool kicked off the action with the second West and East & Nordic qualifiers. In each the top two teams would secure a spot for the final qualifier. These are the eight teams which will fight next weekend for three spots to New York:
The final qualifier will be played next Saturday, the 10th of September. More details will be released throughout the week.
Just like League of Legends, Counter-Strike also went for the second qualifier that will lead up to a final qualifier next weekend. There the top three will as well secure their spot at the Global Challenge New York which will take place from the 13-16th of October. Virtually every European top team attended to secure one of the remaining spots for the final qualifier.
The final qualifier will be played next Sunday, the 11th of September. More details will be released throughout the week.
Unlike the other two games, StarCraft 2 only knows direct qualifiers for New York and that means that the final two spots for the Big Apple were handed out yesterday.
After qualifying already for the Global Challenge Guangzhou, Strelok and elfittaja both have managed to qualify consecutively for New York, which is a very impressive feat to say the least. MaNa, the young Polish powerhouse who took the 3rd place at the Global Challenge Cologne last month, even managed to qualify for his third straight event this season.
