The competition at gamescom 2011 will be played in two disciplines. One of them is StarCraft II - a well established eSports title and an Intel Extreme Masters discipline in season 5. The second discipline is League of Legends, the newest addition to the Intel Extreme Masters.

Michal 'Carmac' Blicharz, Director of Pro Leagues at Turtle Entertainment:
"Last year's Intel Extreme Masters at gamescom was one of the best events we have ever had. We are thrilled to be coming back and we have every intention of making this year's event even better for the swarm of fans in the hall and on the streams."

Intel Extreme Masters is a series of competitions for eSports champions from over 35 countries organised by Turtle Entertainment GmbH in cooperation with Intel. Live events are held in some of the world's major cities like Shanghai, Kiev or New York. Throughout the entire season the best professional gamers compete for a share of 635,000 US Dollars and the title of the World Champion.

No QuakeLive
No Counter-Strike
No World of WarCraft
No fun :(

I can understand StarCraft II, but LoL...
ROFL you say WoW haha is fucking game
all those LoL haters out there.. u may recognize that LoL has soaked up more players from other games in the last few months then any other game did. LoL is big and is growing like no other game does afaik. So stop that annoying "anti LoL" thing ;-)
There's a difference between a game having a lot of players, and a game having a viable ESPORTS scene. I hear lots of people play CoD, would you like to see that in IEM too?
Sure eLax you are right.
Maybe the next season will feature a Farmville tournament as it's a rapidly growing game and has more players than all other IEM titles combined.

signed... I do like SC II very much indeed but nowadays there is way too much starcraft II everywhere. It sometimes even gets kind of boring.
I do miss quake live and cs on IEM... Personally I also miss wow and James and... *sigh*
I don't know much about LoL and so I don't want to be unfair... maybe it's a quite fun thing to watch, but u have to be really into it. Not like Quake Live for example... Really everybody understands what's going on if 2 people shoot at each other :).
