New eSports format: 7/54
New times are coming with this important change! No more draws possible and a lot more intense action! We are glad to announce the new eSports format 7/54 along with the Assault mode with two cap bases for all ESL 7on7 competitions!
After the Wargaming announcement about the new eSports format, it feels right to do the same on ESL! No more draws, no more camping, a lot of action and intense fights! This is what awaits us with the new eSports format!

What's changed?

The 7/54 is a whole different format as it is more dynamic than the previous one. You can now play only using the following tanks tier:
- 5 tier 8 tanks and 2 tier 7 tanks
- 6 tier 8 tanks and 1 tier 6 tank
A important change is also the map mode and the time limit which is now 7 minutes. We were using the Standard mode and now we are using the Assault mode with 2 capture circles!

During a single map, both teams will have to attack twice and to defend twice, after the following pattern:
- Team 1 attacks twice in a row and the other team will defend
- Team 2 attack twice in a row and the other team will defend

If after 4 rounds, the score is tied, there will be a tie breaker.
A Tie Breaker consists of an Assault map that is shown in the match sheet. The Tie Breaker Rules are as follows:
- Team that wins fastest battle in attack picks a role for tie breaker.
- If neither teams wins in attack, the team with bigger cumulative amount of damage dealt in attack picks a role for tie breaker.

This is how maps look like in the new Assault mode

U are so fast :D
1st time ESL wire in 7v7 + new mode. It will be fun :D
In worst scenario 5 games per round = 5 game restarts per round.
But scenario with 2 x attack and 2 x defense is much better then "better seed is picking side".

It may be alot of games but they will happen fast, as atacker you cant waste any time :)
worst scenario 5 maps x 7 mins = 35
for every map picking tanks 5 x 4 = 20
after every map and after picking tanks w8 for tactic 3 x 5 = 15
in that 5 maps big adrenaline make 3/7 to go in toilet 3 x 3.33 = 10
and in that 5 maps u have minimum 2 time consideration rules 2 x 2.5 = 5
and admins to see is it all OK 2 x 2.5 = 5
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
worst scenario to pass one round(w/o wire) u need approximately 90 mins :)

Tactic should be done infront :), I think these games can be played in 40 min max.. if the teams are atleast there and not afk :)

This rule will be in go4wot? coz counting dmg could delay tournament a bit :P
It'll be too long for Bo3 & Bo5... s_s

Yes, it will be.
Counting damage will be done automatically by GI at one point. :)
just amazing....
Why? Why? Why?? Stupid new format, i try it yestrday and i dont like it, and kicking off t1 , thats bad.. RIP
hahahahhahahhahahhahahahhahhahahahhahahahha:))))
no testing, no getting to know it with some test cups, nothing, just give us like we are retarded for playing every week, i just dont get it...

edit: WG: "The Attack/Defence mode has been tested and approved by professional Wargaming.net League players, and has been carefully crafted based on their feedback."

and pro league teams already played it, test it, and know how to play, how is that fair for the rest of us?

you also had a change on test server. Or watch replays from pros. NaVi and a few golden league team played sure, do you think they need that advantage anyways? and how often will you play against them?
These are not valid reasons.
I've seen many teams playing on test server not only in randoms but also friendly games in new modes.
yes I thinking too that this was a big mistake when one team is defending a second have to kill them all or capture the base till 7min its stupid and oune round will by played for 5 battles and you havve to two time defend and two time attack its shit format and I thikn enough players will stop play now go4wot and anothers tournamnet bcs I know lots of people which are playing this game just for this and yo you made this sorry but IT IS BAD!!!
Uhh it's gonna be interesting :) We will see what will happen on Sunday ;)

Give it a chance!
Looking at what you wrote, I can tell that you didn't play/test it yet. You will see that it's much better...
It's much better for viewers, we will need time to make some good tactics for those modes and ofcourse formats :)

We've tested it with pro league teams and there is NO camping anymore. This is by far better than the old format :)

We always have an advantage in that way then? Pro league teams train about 3-5 times a week ( 3 hour sessions ).

Lol? Idk if you remember all the old WGL finals? CAMP FTW! This new game mode encourages ACTION! alot of it. You will see alot more of it and people will enjoy it more than just 10 minutes of sitting and doing nothing. Believe me This format is the best!

Where's the problem to install test server and train there or play team battles like almost all Pro League teams did? Go qq instead of trainig. gg was close

Correct me if i m wrong, but

During a single map, both teams will have to attack twice and to defend twice, after the following pattern:
- Team 1 attacks twice in a row and the other team will defend
- Team 2 attack twice in a row and the other team will defend

means even in BO1 there will be at last 3 games?
The best of now translates as best of X rounds.
So we will not have BO1 anymore, we will only have Best of 5 round and Best of 9 rounds.

Why is BO3 not considered?(or it is) i think it wil still benefit the same as 5 and 9 but it wont be as time consuming.

so, what is the meaning of overall seeding now?
you don't have to play against strong teams in early stages
labudsrbija wrote:

1st pick tanks?
o
Any reason that the rounds shouldn't be BO3, meaning 1 attack, 1 defense and a tiebreaker? Maybe you did the tests for the maps, but surely you didn't do any tests on a tournament scale like for Go4WoT. And you don't have to be a genius to figure out that making the rounds 3-4 times longer will just make the whole cup impossible to finish in one day.

Not considering the unannounced change in other rules which are at least confusing if not absurd:

admins wrote:
Rule 4.4. Mode: Best of 5
Team 1 performs 2 Attacks, Team 2 performs Defenses
Team 2 performs 2 Attacks, Team 1 performs Defenses
The team with a better seeding picks the side first.

So the Team 1 is not the first team on the ticket or the better seeded team like many will think, it's what the team with better seeding wants it to be.

Moving forward to the absurd, I stumbled upon another piece of fine work the admins prepared for us. It's the u[Rule 4.5.3 aka The Mine Field:

admins wrote:
The team with the better (1 is the best) seeding picks the starting position and also picks their first 2 tanks. After that the other team picks their 2 tanks. This will be done until both teams picked their 7 tanks.
Breaking this rule will be punished with 2 penalty points.

Each pick can take up to maximum 1 minute.
Breaking this rule will result in 1 penalty point to the team that delayed the picking.

The tank-picking should only be done in the game chat to avoid any discrepancies. Once a tank is picked it cannot be changed for the map any more.
If you wrote that you pick a tank and you joined the battle with another tank, the team will receive 2 penalty points.

As soon as the tank-picking is finished, both teams should confirm that they are ready in the game chat.
If the battle is started without waiting for the other team to say ready, the team that created the training room will be disqualified.

New rules + 7/54 + Wire = GG
If another team wins 3 first matches, will the fourth one have to be played? News say that we have to play 4 matches, but is there any point to play fourth after the match in this kind of situation? Does the system allow us to stop after 3 or do we have to play fourth to avoid DQ?

Nope. When a team reaches 3 points, the match ends.

labudsrbija wrote:

It has the same meaning as before. It is used to make the seeding for the cup, to decide which team creates the training room, which team picks sides and tanks first and so on..

We will test how BO5 will work in this tournament.

Yes, it was the same thing like before when you had to play "Sand River - Assault". The team with the better seeding was picking the side then and the same happens now for the first map, till Tie Breaker.

These are elaborated cases that have different penalties, considered by the gravity of the issue. We have encountered the above mentioned situations in matches, and we have decided that this is the best way to deal with them. You don't have to remember how many penalty points you can receive, you just have to concentrate on playing a normal match without thinking all the time to trick your opponent, and everything will be just fine! :)
In next tournament we should try BO3 (1 defend, 1 attack + extra game) in first rounds at least. 7/54 is a nice format but it takes to much time to play even 1 match on early stage of the tournaments. Maybe from RO16 or RO8 BO5 rule will work but in RO256 and RO128 its a waste of time (new teams, slow pick, problems with Wire etc).
LOL deadzone I tested it yesterady and its shit bcs they didnt want see camp but now you of team must a cmap what is this logic? I think you must be ill If you like old format was really better and Wargaming well see it but maybe too later..

Watley i dont know if you even bothered training this new format?
I've got already 40+ hours in trainings for this new mode and i've almost seen no defensive tactics as defender, you go ahead and camp on all the maps, we will get you out of there and win the game. This new mode is the best possible.
Yea GO4WOT start in 2 hours and and 22 hours and 30 min. GG.....

We try it with Wire and it take 100 mins to pass one round!
we waited 90 mins for enemy team, and played 60 mins on go4wot yesterday... bo5 is nice. #sarcasm
We were lucky becouse our 1st enemy didn't knew about new format and run away after 1st battle lost :D
Tournament duration : 9h30 ... !
